Binjin to Kumburumba

"My mother told me all these stories. I have been listening to her telling stories about the country. This painting is about the red swampy ground around Kumburumba. This was made by Windoong – the stone curlew – in the Dreamtime when he cut his leg and blood flowed across the ground. When the wet season floodwaters flowed from Binjin Spring it pushed all that red water back to Kumburumba country. That's a little bit of the story."
