Wangkartu/Tjunpartja

This large painting represents the neighbouring country of two senior Baglo artists – Helicopter and his borther-in-law, Michael Mutji. The top half is the tali, or sand dune country of Helicopter's father. This country is located south east of Well 33 on The Canning Stock Route. The small triangular patch represents karnti, or bush potato growing in the creek bed near Wangkatu Rockhole. The bottom half depicts Michael's traditional country, dominated by sand dunes. This country is known as Tjunpartja, after the waterhole featured here.
