Nyirli
Theresa has painted country called Nyirli where there is an important waterhole – shown in the centre of the painting. This is her mother's country which is far to the south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. Dominating the landscape at Nyirli are two prominent tali, or sand dunes, while a small, rocky hill nearby is also shown. The black represents manukijti, or bush blackberry, which was a sought-after food for Theresa's mother and her family when they hunted and travelled through this country.
