Bali Bali Balga, Moonga Moonga & Joonba

This painting represents the traditional performances of Bali Bali Balga, Moonga Moonga and Joonba. During the Bali Bali Balga, dancers carry large thread-cross totems on their shoulders and accompany song and boomerang clap sticks with stamping feet and swaying movements. In the middle section a group of women carry small string-cross totems as they perform the Moonga Moonga. Directly below the women, in the lower middle section of the painting, the Joonba is represented with the men adorned in paperbark hats.
