"Through my paintings I like to pass on messages of change, we need to change our ways so that we may have a better future for ourselves and generations to come".
Margaret Beebe was born in Halls Creek but lives and grew up in Kununurra where she first attended St Josephs Catholic Primary School and then went on to attended high school in Darwin and Coolgardie CAPs in WA. Margaret only began painting and carving boabs as recently as 2012 after observing and learning from family members and other expert carvers such as her sister, Penny Archie. Margaret’s artistic talent soon became apparent, her carving skills rapidly progressed and her original designs developed into more and more intricate patterns and compositions. She now engraves boab nuts regularly, enjoys the challenge of new mediums for her artistic expression and can be classed as one Waringarri’s best carvers.
