Artist and arts worker Betty Bundamarra has a broad range of responsibilities at the Kira Kiro Art Centre in Kalumburu, where she has worked since 2009. A busy stop for visitors both from the local community and tourists, Betty goes to great lengths to spend time with the youth groups who come into the art centre, providing paints and paper and organising for elders to provide cultural education, while she isn’t painting herself.
On the final day of the first Emerging Leaders program week in Perth with the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Betty revealed “I’ve already learnt a lot from this program. The day at ‘Art On The Move’, where we were preparing artwork for an exhibition was my favourite – I also want to learn more about computers and the internet now.”
Betty has attended the 2013 Emerging Leaders Symposium in Perth and the 2016 Visual Arts Leadership Program Curating workshop in Kununurra.
