Jarnem Hill

"This is Jarnem – my home – that big hill and that water. In station times before my community was built we camped here with the cattle and watered them at the billabong."

This image depicts the artist's community living area. Directly behind the community is a large hill named Jarnem. Below this hill is a billabong called Nyawa Nyawam. Feeding the billabong is a freshwater spring called Jernamoom. During the dry season Nyawa Nyawam is a series of small soaks, while during the wet season Nyawa Nyawam overflows into a large billabong area.
