Pinkalarta is the home where Alma and her mother grew up. It is located in the Great Sandy Desert near Joanna Springs on the Anna Plains station and it is where Alma lost her mother and her sister. Alma is a part of the Yulparija people who were forced to leave her home when the water began to dry up. She found her new home in the coastal town of Bidyadanga, and, as a result, her desert imagery is expressed with the vibrant contrasts of the saltwater landscape. This work gives an aerial view of the landscape, showing the Warla (salt lake) and the jila (living water). The red is the Tali (sand dunes.)
