This painting depicts the season activity of Sturt Creek. Sturt Creek is the primary feature of Boxer's traditional country, for which he is senior custodian.
The left and right portions of the painting show Sturt Creek following its normally convoluted path through the landscape, on its way to Parragur, of Lake Gregory. The middle section shows Sturt Creek after the rains, when it becomes flooded with 'milk water', the clay rich run-off from storms upstream. By this stage, Sturt Creek is full, and has spread over its flood plain, following a much straighter path.
