Judy Mengil's Dreamtime narratives bring to life the creative energies that have shaped her country. They also reiterate the existence of living spiritual presences. Rich in painterly colour, her arts practice alludes to the explanations of natural phenomena, the presence of Dreaming and the creation of geological landforms.
Judy's paintings are often dominated by bold colour and strong form. The expansiveness of her Kimberley landscapes are balanced with intricate detail that suggests moving water, the delicacy of lush and shady waterholes and freshwater springs surrounded by waterlily.
