Droving Days

“Once we had enough cattle ready for the meatworks, we drove these cattle there, 700-800 or maybe more. They used to cut out the sick ones or ones with sore feet. We'd go to Broome, Derby or Wyndham. Sometimes they would be sent off in a ship or even a plane. We had to go on night watch, we rode around them singing our songs so these cattle would know we were still there. When we rested we had to camp near trees in case they stampeded.”
